Day 8- Nanning

Today was our last full day in Nanning. Channing woke up at 7am and decided to start the day off on a sour note. She cried for over a hour for Go Go (our guide David). That was harmony to the ears. Before she would cry to go back "home", so it was nice to hear her say something other than that. She is so super attached to David.....and he is also getting attached to her. He is so good with her, I cannot believe it. He calls her a princess and gets such a kick out of her. She just lights up when he is around.....laughs, giggles, runs, plays......he can get her to do anything. Mom and dad are bugging him that we are going to take him home to Canada too!!!!! He says its too cold there!!!
Our day was a bit slower today which was nice. We went for breakfast, then mom, David, Channing and I went shopping to a market and to a mall. Dad stayed behind since he wasnt feeling very well. After shopping we came back to the hotel and Channing and I went for a walk, then to the pool to meet her friends. At 4pm I had to meet David in my hotel room to review all the adoption documents to make sure there were no errors.....all was perfect!!!! My friend Rindee and her 3 kids came to our room to give Channing a gift. It is beautiful....I will post pictures tomorrow!!!
We took David out for a nice supper tonight. Channing was so funny. She loves to be dressed up and look "lang lang" (pretty). David picked an excellent Chinese/Western style restaurant.
After we walked down a few streets and did some shopping. It was so nice out and the street was all lite up.
Channing is blossoming more and more each day now. She has her moments where she is grieving but it is more evident that she is attaching to me. I think once we leave David she may be better in Beijing, but of course she will grieve him for a few days. I did find out today that everything I knew about where Channing spent her time here before I came was the same as I already knew......so thats nice that there wasnt any surprises!!!
Tomorrow we are going to see the countryside. We are going to the rice fields, mountains and to a real family's farm. So that will be interesting!! This city is so beautiful!!! We then will be heading to the airport at 4pm to fly back to Beijing. This should be fun....Channing's first plane ride. Its so hard to believe that Channing will be leaving her birth province........I will be hard taking off that runway!!! I may not be able to post tomorrow since we get into Beijing late.....and then we have to be up bright and early the next day!!!

Pictures of the day!!!

Oh, I feel for you! Toddler fits are like nothing I have ever experienced. Especially when it's your own toddler. Eliza has entered the full-blown tantrum phase and it isn't pretty. I'll give my usual advice...hang in there!

Everything looks so beautiful! I really want to go the country when I go to China too!

Channing sounds like she is warming up, that's nice! I really hope all goes well with you tomorrow. I think you're right, it will be easier for her to attach to you when David isn't there. Even if she will miss him. Praying for her grieving to be short and not too painful....

Yahoo, more smiles! She certainly has a lovely smile. I can't believe that she's writing her name. You've got one smart little girl there. They are often the most stubborn. Hang in there.

I've been away and am finally getting caught up with blogs etc. I'm so thrilled to see Channing with you at long last. What a cutie. I'm glad things are gradually getting better - baby steps in the right direction. It's so nice to see pictures of her smiling. A huge congrats! Good luck with the flight.

David sounds just wonderful!!! I have heard that sometimes children have difficulty with men and won't go to their new papa's but it looks like Channing doesn't have this problem which is great!! Will be thinking of you tomorrow!!
I was showing my close friends at work your blog and they are just amazed at how incredible you are with your new daughter. Lots of complements for how beautiful you both are too!!

I am so sorry to hear that Channing is having such a rough time but the good side of that is she is working through the grief. It is so hard to watch as the mom, grandad or grandmom. I know I was there too. Glenys totally loved her GongGong too.

David is kinda cute, you can drop him off in Memphis, it is as hot as Nanning, I remember that too.

Looks like things are getting a bit better and C. looks more relaxed with the exception of the 1st pic. I am so impressed the she can write Chinese at age 3! Amazing! And she sits so nicely at the dinner table feeding herself. Thank you for sharing all the lovely photos. Are you finding some nice mementos in the shops? You are probably amongst the rice fields about now, though it's Thurs. night here. Happy travels to Beijing.

Glad Channing is attaching to Mama already! At least she is showing emotion and is not shut down - even if it isn't always fun for Mama!
