I do not have advice but thanks for sharing the feedback on the DVD. I was looking at it the other day. Possible future purchase...Keep smilin!
Basic signing is a great idea! Just be sure to talk while you do it!
I think signing as an augmentation to speech is great too. I'll be investing in some baby signs!
I love baby sign language! I don't have the video, but I will be getting it for the next baby.
I wish I was there to sign with you! Signing is great for kids and I'm sure it will be a good bridge for Channing.Cari
How very cool!! Joel and I have been discussing signing as well and think we will probably get into some basic signs.
I bought some signing dvd's on line (www.signingtime.com). Ava will be 22months when we meet and with the language barrier and the fact she has a cleft lip/palate...I thought the signing dvd's would help with communication for both of us. I've watched the first one of the set and was quite impressed...kept my attention for the entire dvd. Check out the website...there is a sample video clip of one of the dvd's.
I've been thinking that signing will be a good tool for us since we too are hoping for a toddler (as you know!)Thanks for the review of the DVD - I better start getting the papaya up on her signs since we're hoping she'll be our "secret weapon" with our little one in China!
I'd love to swap quilt squares with you...couldn't find an email address on your blog...email me at:lizspooner@rogers.com
I would like to try signing too and have talked to a couple of SLPs who encourage using it together with speech. I haven't decided yet what book/dvd I want to get.
We too have discussed signing and are thinking of starting with basic signs and then deciding from there.
